Chartering Your Outpost is Important!
Due to a rise in administrative
and mailing costs that have occurred since the chartering dues
were last changed over ten years ago, a chartering fee change was
presented at the 2002 National Council and passed by the Royal
Rangers Executive Committee. As of January 1, 2003, the national
chartering dues change to $8.00 for each boy and $10.00 for each
leader. The change in dues will affect all outposts for the 2003
charter year. Each chartered outpost will continue to receive its
subscription to the High Adventure boy’s magazine and High
Adventure Leader for its chartered members. The outpost will also
receive a membership card and 7 Promises for Boys for each boy
and a membership card for each leader. Chartered outposts are entitled
to the benefits of certified training and attendance at district
and national events. In the future, the national office will be
producing other items that the local outpost will receive as benefit
of the chartering dues.
In order for your outpost to take
advantage of the many events and training opportunities provided
by the national office, you must be an officially recognized. This
is done by chartering. When you charter, you automatically receive
a great deal of assistance and help with implementing your Royal Rangers ministry effectively. Your ministry will receive helpful
materials such as:
- An outpost number and an official charter certificate
- Membership cards for the boys and leaders in your program
- Quarterly publications of High Adventure for your boys and High
Adventure Leader for your commanders
- Award program enrollment, making your group eligible to participate
in the Outpost Commander's Award Program
- Selected brochures that highlight the many areas of ministry
available to Royal Rangers participants
- Other benefits, such as participation in the Leadership Training
Academy; national training camps; sectional, district and national
camping activities; and the Royal Rangers of the Year program
(which ranges from local to national competition)
- Tracking CD to chart boys' advancements and leaders' training
In order to obtain chartering, your
outpost must meet minimum requirements, including:
- A qualified leader and, if possible, one or more assistants
- At least five boys who have met the recruit requirements
- A registration fee for each participating boy and adult
- Holding three regular meetings
Chartering is a function performed
