Training FAQ

The following represents a the most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) we receive on national events.  This information will be updated periodically as new questions arise.  If you have questions that are not covered here please feel free to contact us at rangers@ag.org.

When will the transition to the new adult and junior training take place?

You can find the equivalency and transition schedule for adult and junior training in the “Seek and Save” articles.

What is the Ranger Ministry Academy?

It is the combination of classroom and event training designed to meet the unique needs of today’s leaders.  Details on this can be found in the “Seek and Save” articles.

How long before the current LMA is phased out?

The last date to have completed your requirements to earn the current LMA is December 31, 2010.

Can older boys attend national training events like NTC, ANTC, RKTC, NTT, and WNTC?

National training events have a minimum age requirement of 18 years by the start date of the event.

How and when can I earn the new Medal of Excellence?

The Medal of Excellence application will be available on the national Royal Ranger website in 2010.  Leaders are required to complete the four levels of Outpost Leaders Advancement and take at least one boy on a journey culminating in the earning of the highest medal in any of the four Ranger groups. September 1, 2008 is the start date for taking a boy on his advancement journey in his age group.  Further information can be found in the “Seek and Save” articles.

Do classes I am taking through my district’s school of ministry or other alternate accredited institutions qualify for the educational requirements of the Organizational Leaders Training track?

The answer is for the most part, yes. The educational requirements for the Organizational Leaders Training are the twenty courses outlined in the Berean Royal Rangers Leadership Diploma, or their equivalent. In order to verify equivalency, speak to the treasurer/secretary of your Assemblies of God district. (If you are non-AG studying in a comparable program, the person responsible for that program may do the comparison and verification for equivalency.) If the intention is to transfer into the Berean Diploma, then a transcript must be sent to Berean School of the Bible at Global University upon enrollment for program evaluation.  It is important to remember that it is not the Assemblies of God credentialing process that equates to program completion it is course completion.

Notice: Organizational leaders with an equivalent 2-year Associates Degree (or superior) from an accredited Bible college or university are exempt from the educational requirements, but must complete the other remaining elements (seminars, service, reading, personal goals, etc.).

When can I start working on the new Organizational Leadership Training Track and what past events or training I have completed qualify?

Good question, one of the primary reasons for implementing this new training track is to challenge men and women to grow spiritually, to develop well-rounded ministry competencies, and to continue to enhance their leadership aptitudes.  For this reason a starting date as of January 1, 2009 was set.  This will apply to Leadership Seminars, Service Requirements, Reading assignments, and personal goals.  Only the educational (Berean, School of Ministry, or equivalent) requirements may be applied if completed prior to January 1, 2009.

Can I earn the Bronze level of the Organizational Leadership Training Tack now and wear the patch on my uniform?

You can begin fulfilling the requirements for the Bronze level now.  That is why we have released the information in March 2009 so you can continue your leadership development journey. Please note that the prerequisite must be met before you can submit an application for the Outpost Leadership Training Tiers, which consist in earning all four of the Outpost Leader Advancement levels. Once the new Ranger Essential training course is released you can then earn and wear the Ready Leader, Safety Leader, Trained Leader, and Advanced Leader patches from the national royal rangers office.  They are scheduled to be released sometime after the 2010 national council.  The applications will be available late 2009 to help you track your progress.  For more information on how current training transitions check the seek and save articles.
